Robert Mugabe, You Really Should Just Get Lost!
Robert Mugabe recently won re-election as head of state of Zimbabwe. He won by a landslide as the only candidate on the ballot. I feel sorry for this African nation. It went from tyranny to tyranny and it doesn’t appear that an end is in sight. Why is this man allowed to stay in office since he is clearly wrong for Zimbabwe? It is my humble opinion that the international community should be just as hard on Mugabe as they were on the fascist apartheid system that once ruled South Africa.
Thank you for posting this. I am a Zimbabwean and i confess i used to side with Robert Mugabe back in the day when he was still relevant and made sense but reality set in a couple of years ago. You are right he deserves to go but not through the international forum because their help involves tough sanctions/embargos that are meant to put pressure on the economy whereas people like him (who are rich) do not suffer just the ordinary Zimbabwean. The sanctions in reality are meant to push Zimbaweans to stage a coup and remove him from power but Zimbabweans detest war being that we only got our independence in 1980 so people still feel the scars of that part of our history. The solution i guess lies with the Zimbaweans themselves just have no idea how to go about it really without resorting to violence.

Speaking as someone on the outside looking in, I don’t know all there is to know about how sanctions affect the people of a nation. It does appear that ordinary citizens suffer most under sanctions. So in that case, thanks for bringing in that important point.
You are welcome and you are right he really needs to go now.Sanctions basically mean prohibition of commerce or a ban on trade and no monetary advances from The World Bank. etc Its meant to exert pressure on a government as a from of punishment. Problem is with the corruption of government officials they dont suffer just charge more tax and more thieving for them. What i found ludicrous is the fact that he stood as a lone candidate LOL even to himself that sounds ridiculous. Thank you for noticing
