What Is The Biggest Threat To Our World Today?

Living in a “paradise on earth” like America could cause you to become oblivious to what is happening around the world. We’ve had terrorist attacks along with a few wacko domestic extremist, but we don’t face such threats day in and day out. With that said, I wonder what is a bigger threat to our world, Islamic extremism, “Euro” fascism, or paranoia.

I watched a short film today, by Dutch politician Geert Wilders, called Fitna. It’s a film that depicts Islamofascism at its worst. First I’d like to caution anyone who clicks on the link that there are some very disturbing images in the short film. If you are easily disturbed, as am I, do not click on it. Some will be quick to brand the film as nothing more than racist propaganda. I’m not here to argue if that labeling is justified or not. As far as I’m concerned, Wilders just might be another Eurofascist who doesn’t want nonwhites in his country. But does that take away from the fact that there may be some truth in the film? What’s disturbing to me is that racists are high jacking legitimate concerns about Islamic extremism. Why are we allowing this? It is because we are afraid of being called racist. There is nothing racist about wanting to stop the spread of a potentially dangerous worldview. We must stop viewing Islamic radicals as nonwhites who are victims of western imperialism. They’ve got their own oppressive agenda and we must confront it.

It is crucial that we take back the fight against radical Islam from the far right extremists of Europe. They include the British National Party, the Freedom Party (Austria), Vlaams Belang (Belgium), and the French National Front to name a few.

So what is the biggest threat to our world today? It’s not radical Islam or Euro fascism. It’s paranoia plain and simple. We are too darn paranoid to be called racist or culturally insensitive so we allow third world extremism to flourish. It’s time to stop handling Islamic radicalism with kid gloves and call it what it is…another form of fascism.

  1. I watched Fitna I think 2 months ago when it was posted on a conservative blog I read.

I thought the film was informative and that there was some truth. I also find it unfortunate that any time people speak out against extremism in religion they are branded as anti-. This changes the debate from actually discussing the points brought up to pointing fingers and people trading pointless barbs.

This film was quickly condemned when it came out and after I saw it, I could not understand why? Why are people so afraid to criticize SOME aspects of a religion?

  2. Exactly. The problem is, it’s usually racists who do the speaking out. When the euro fascists (like the groups I mentioned) take center stage in the fight against radical Islam, it becomes an issue of “the oppressive white race” against people of color. Notice I am almost always careful to specify radical Islam/Islamic Extremists from Arabs or Muslims in general. That’s the approach we need to take.

On a good note, I was happy to hear that Geert Wilders will not have any further legal action taken against him over a film that yes….has some truth to it. That is, no action in the Netherlands. His own country won’t take action against him, but Jordan would like to:

Again, I am not sticking up for him so much as I am for the right not to submit to a religion you don’t believe in. The blasphemy charge claimed by the Jordanian government is stupic, IMO.

    and this is why….

“Feminism is the intellectual organization of gender hatred, just as Marxism was the intellectual organization of class hatred. Feminism’s business is fashioning weapons to be used against men in society, education, politics, law and divorce court. The feminist aim is to overthrow “patriarchal tyranny.” In this undertaking, the male’s civil rights count for no more than those of the bourgeoisie in Soviet Russia or the Jews in National Socialist Germany.” — What civil rights has wrought. 5. Hello Jorge,

I believe that both feminism and masculinism are reactionary “ideologies” of a much larger problem.

  6. I have no problem with anyone speaking out against
Religious extemists, but I have a problem if you single
out one single religion ! if rligion on earth has its share of terrorism one way or another.

  7. Hi massimo,

In the past, Christianity had many atrocities committed in its name. At the same time, every group was barbaric in the past. Even atheist regimes have slaughtered millions. So no one is perfect. The problem is, terrorism is being inflicted upon the world by radical Islamists rather than Christians or Buddhists. Many will use Timothy McVeigh as an example, but he was actually an agnostic. Christians can be harmful, but we simply don’t see it on a grand/world scale like we do among muslims. Again, we have to be careful not to paint an entire race or followers of a religion with one brush.
