The Proper Way To Witness To Homosexuals!

I just saw an excellent video about a street evangelist’s conversation with a homosexual. Notice he did not nag on about the gay issue, but kept things pure. I’m not an evangelist, but anyone can recognize that it was the proper strategy. To view the video, check out StreetFishing.

  1. Good find, LorMarie. I agree completely. This was a key part for witnessing to anyone, let alone a gay person: “Addressing specific sins from the start tends to take the conversation down endless rabbit trails and before you know it, the person is defending their sin and you are seen as an intolerant fanatic.”

We’ve all got plenty of non-sexual sins, so it is pointless to try to win the “gay” argument. Use all your energy and goodwill on the real issue: Sinners in need of a savior.

  2. It is written…”with lovingkindness have I drawn thee” we can drawn them with the love of God like HE did us when we were “out-there”. The love of God on display with win them…not bashing!

  3. I hope that you realize that by accepting this you are admitting that homosexuals are no more sinners than someone who lies, someone who covets property or any other sinners. Christians preach homosexuality as if it were the only unforgivable sin. We all live with sin in our life, but because “Gay” sin is alien and not understandable to most people they refuse to forgive it and cannot see that their God will forgive it if they believe in Jesus Christ. This IS the correct way in approaching PEOPLE about Christianity from a perspective of trying to convert people, and yes that includes homosexuals. But the point is to treat everyone as people. We are not gay and straight and doctors and beggars and engineers according to the Christian faith. We are all sinners and seen as equals in the eyes of God and all our sins are equal for to commit one is to have commit them all, but Christians believe that those who follow Jesus and repent shall be forgiven. That’s what’s important.

Of course, which is one of the reasons why I decided to link to the post. Homosexuals have been singled out for way too long, IMO.

  5. It is a challenging balance. Homosexuals shouldn’t be singled out, but then again there are whole groups in the church trying to say it isn’t a sin. If they were saying that coveting, adultery, etc. weren’t sins I’d oppose them as well.

  6. I agree completely. By singling out homosexuals the Church tends to drive them away in droves and those with a strong faith suffer great anguish because of the intensity of hatred towards them, whether they are out and face it daily, or whether they are too afraid to admit it and the difficulties are witnessed. Hate doesn’t belong in any religion, let alone Christianity. Hatred is a sin and a form of murder as you well know, and everyone in the church needs to approach the issue of homosexuality a lot more cooly.
