No More Jack Rabbits, Butterflies, Or Anything Else

The Apostate has an interesting post about a group of Christians who believe that masturbation is sinful and have thus sworn off of it. I won’t get into the whole debate on whether or not they are correct. I do have one concern though: We have a bunch of young black women who are speaking candidly about their prior “self-pleasuring” habits as well as sexual fantasies. Don’t get the wrong idea, I’m glad they are not slaves to their former habits.  What they are speaking of is way too personal and specific. I personally don’t see a need to get that specific.  What’s next? All I need to know is that you no longer engage in what you feel is sexual immorality. I don’t need to know any more than that.  Besides, I get the feeling that some will not keep their minds elevated while listening to their testimonies.

BTW, don’t ask me what Jack Rabbits or Butterflies are since you can’t be sure that I know the answer.

I agree with you. It’s also why testimonies aren’t supposed to go on and on about their drug use, sexual habits, immoralities, blah, blah, blah. What does it profit the people who listen?

And I’m sure bystanders seeing those shirts won’t say to themselves, “Oh wow, a Christian to whom masturbation was an idol and an unwholesome activity for them has now been set free! Hallelujah!” No, they’re more likely to think, “Let me get my children as far away from those weirdos as possible.”

Will it then become a requirement to become a Christian? – “Take up your cross, lay down your hand and follow me.” Yikes!
